(Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes)

I’m a good dad,
I gave you my all.
I was there for you every day,
Through every joy and fall.

If we’re no longer connected,
I can tell you why
I saw too many days alone
And ran out of tears to cry

Every time I cried in pain
You never heard a word
The other voices in your ear
Are the only ones you heard.

Knowing I didn't matter
Nearly pushed me to my grave
No matter how hard I tried
My pain made me a slave.

Pushed to the brink of suicidesunset suicide
My back against the tree
I placed the gun in my mouth
I longed to be free.

The next morning
My daughter by my side
My shame was overwhelming
I could find no place to hide.

Too much time has passed
There're no fences left to mend
So I write this to you
To bring things to an end.

I owe you nothing else
I have nothing left to give
I've given you everything
Including my will to live.

So, now I hope you know
And can finally understand
We're exactly where you wanted
Exactly where you planned.

You say this wasn't your plan
I understand that too
What you have failed to see
It was your mother's plan for you.

Be happy in your life
Stay out of the rain
Remember, you can't find joy
When causing another's pain.
